What I’m Reading: Winter Edition
The winter season is a great time to snuggle with a good book and get lost in a story. This winter I’ve already got my books lined up!
For the month of December I’ll be reading A Farewell to Arms by Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway is one of my favorite authors and somehow I’ve managed to read most of his books except this one, which some might argue is his most popular. I am already halfway through and loving it. Stay tuned for my monthly book review on A Farewell to Arms (coming in a few weeks).
“A Farewell to Arms” is one of those texts that transcends its impetus.” — The Washington Times
With the New Year I thought a reflection of self might in order and found just the right book to do the trick- We Are The Ones We’ve Been Waiting: Inner Light in a Time of Darkness For by the amazing and talented Alice Walker. It is a memoir-esque book that includes meditations at the beginning of each chapter and draws her personal background while also discusses the world and the problems that accompany it.
“Alice Walker… touches the soul, and propels us to action.” — Amy Goodman, Democracy Now!
Lastly, to wrap up the winter season I’ll be reading The Man Who loved Books Too Much by Allison Hoover Bartlett for February. Over three years ago I received this book as a Christmas present and somehow it got lost in my book shelf! Well, I’m ready to finally sit down and read this interesting true story of a thief, a detective, and a world of literary obsession.
“Tautly written, wry, and thoroughly compelling.” —Los Angeles Times
