December Dresses: Retro Green Velvet
For the month of December I am sharing 6 festive dresses you can wear to all your holiday events and celebrations.
First up, is this velvet number from ModCloth. When I saw this on the website last month I fell in love instantly!
I am a huge fan of vintage clothing. Which is one of the reasons I adore ModCloth, because they offer so many vintage inspired pieces. I have gotten a couple party dresses from ModCloth and each one has always afforded me a handful of compliments. Their items tend to be a little bit more unique, so often times you are wearing something that most people have never seen.
Many people who know me, or even if you’ve been following my daily outfits on Instagram know that my style tends to be a bit more on the conservative side. I don’t wear tight clothing– I find it uncomfortable and I feel a little bit self conscious as well. Often times I don’t wear many low cut or revealing blouses. Not to mention, I rarely ever wear anything about the knee. My style just happens to be a bit more old school, I guess. I love how mini skirts look, but I always worry about some slip happening and all being revealed!
With all that being said, this dress for me is a bit more risqué. My mom laughed when I mentioned this to her, as she feels it isn’t a very scandalous dress at all. But for someone like myself, this is a really bold choice.
The cut is my favorite and what really drew me to this dress. I love the retro style, especially the sleeves. The sweetheart neckline is so flattering. Along with the length, it’s not quite a full midi length, but hits perfectly just under the knee. The back of the dress has a small slit in the back, which allows for more movability. In addition, the velvet fabric is super soft and flexible so the dress is actually very comfortable.
As soon as I slipped on this velvet number I felt on fire! I was overwhelmed with confidence. I felt sexy. I loved the feelings that emerged when I put on this sultry dress. Between the vintage elements, the velvet material, and how it perfectly hugged my body– this dress is a showstopper for me.
All I need now is to be invited to a jazz club!
